Gourdon

Holidays are blissful times. Blissful times of doing absolutely nothing. But after about a month, well, you get bored. But it's not an awful boredom (like when you've been studying for a month and cannot bear to see your flashcards anymore and are bored of life), it's more of a what shall I do today boredom.

Yesterday morning I rang Ollie and we decided to be tourists and go for a pic-nic in Gourdon.

Eyes on the road!

Gourdon is classified as one of the most beautiful villages in France. It's a tiny medieval village perched on a really high hill. It's walls give the most amazing views on the whole riviera. And as if that wasn't enough, Gourdon's speciality is Candy making! Match made in Heaven.

It is also a popular place for paragliding... next time maybe!

We set our picnic (which Ollie was very excited about) under a big pine tree and got down to business. We had ham sandwiches, market tomatoes, fresh fruit as well as homemade pink lemonade!

We packed up and walked back to the village with our stomachs eyes set on... desert!

There are more lollipops, marshmallows, pain d'épices, jams, pâte d'amande and callissons than you could ever imagine! Having satisfied our sweet tooth we strolled the village and enjoyed the handmade soaps, jewellery and perfumes.

The whole region around Gourdon is renown for it's glass. We came across this piece of art in one of the shops and were awestruck!

More than 450 hours of work went into this piece...

Some really realistic soaps!

We left Gourdon and passed by a sweet factory, our sweet tooth flared up and we stopped by.

Ollie was still super stoked!

The "Confiserie" specialize in making candied peels and fruits. A fruit can take up to 45 days of labour to become candied!

After many tasters we were basically sugar high and thought it best to avoid the gift shop and go straight home!

I'll leave you on this sweet note! xx
